Week Two

This week was about settling into routines as much as possible. Continuing with the theme of 'I Am Special.' We spent time this week talking about what thing were our favorites - favorite food, toy, clothes and color.

On Wednesday and Friday, we played on Deck 7 and had opportunities to use the stilts. While playing on Deck 7, the children also began acting out stories from our Bible lessons about when the disciples turned the children away and also when Jesus healed a blind man. We had done this once or twice in class, but it was great to see the kids acting out the stories on their own. It seems like most of the time, everyone wants to be Jesus! Everyone also gave great effort in trying to learn the long memory verse this week from Matthew 11.5 'The blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised to life and the Good News is being preached to the poor.' The motions that we used helped everyone to remember the words better and have fun while memorizing God's Word.

On Tuesday, we got out the playdough for the first time this year and had fun with cutting, pounding and molding.

Next week we will be talking about how our emotions make us special - how people feel different things at different times. The kids are also excited about starting the month of September on the calander.

Week One

This week has been full and fun. On Monday, we celebrated Mayra's forth birthday. Her mom brought in cupcakes for everyone to share - Thank you Hanneke!

We have had the theme of 'I Am Special' and talked this week about how our faces and bodies are different in some ways and the same in other ways. Thursday we decorated 'mrirrors' to take home and see how special we are. On Friday, we made a special 'face' snack with graham crackers, peanut butter, raisins and chocolate flakes. Everyone seemed to enjoy making them -- and eating them even more!

Next week, we will continue with the I Am Special theme, but we will be talking about our favorite things that make us special - favorite food, activity, colour, etc.

Our 'words from the Bible' this week come from Malachi 1.2 - "I have loved you," says the Lord. Good job to Andre and others who worked on remembering this verse through the week.
