This week was about settling into routines as much as possible. Continuing with the theme of 'I Am Special.' We spent time this week talking about what thing were our favorites - favorite food, toy, clothes and color.
On Wednesday and Friday, we played on Deck 7 and had opportunities to use the stilts. While playing on Deck 7, the children also began acting out stories from our Bible lessons about when the disciples turned the children away and also when Jesus healed a blind man. We had done this once or twice in class, but it was great to see the kids acting out the stories on their own. It seems like most of the time, everyone wants to be Jesus! Everyone also gave great effort in trying to learn the long memory verse this week from Matthew 11.5 'The blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised to life and the Good News is being preached to the poor.' The motions that we used helped everyone to remember the words better and have fun while memorizing God's Word.
On Tuesday, we got out the playdough for the first time this year and had fun with cutting, pounding and molding.
Next week we will be talking about how our emotions make us special - how people feel different things at different times. The kids are also excited about starting the month of September on the calander.
