Week 19

We have returned!
The business of sailing and the Christmas rush left me without time for final entry of the semester, but we did finish off the first 18 weeks of school with a Christmas party and arrival in Tenerife. The 19th of December also brought some sad good-byes as Mayra and Norah returned to Holland over the Christmas holidays.

We started back this past Monday after a 5 week break. I think everyone (including the teachers) were ready for a few more days of break, but it was still good to get back and lots of smiles and hugs on the first day. Not so many pictures this week because my camera was sitting in the cabin most of the week -- hopfully there will be more pictures in the coming weeks with our sail and arrival in Benin.

Monday also started a new theme in our preschool class - 'Let's Go!' - talking about how people get from one place to another. An excellent theme seeing as most of the children have just returned from some kind of vacation or trip and the whole ship will be moving to another place soon. All of these kids have a much better understanding of travel and transportation than the average child in America or Europe - it should be something everyone in class enjoys.

The children are also excited as the 100th day of school approaches. We should reach it next Friday. Not exactly sure yet what our celebration will look like, but most of the students think we should eat 100 chocolate cakes :) Pictures and news of this celebration to be posted next week.
