Back to normal this week - well, whatever normal is when you have your school on a ship in West Africa.
We are continuing to talk about families this week. Monday and Tuesday we worked to make simple puppets for each member of our families and then Wednesday and Thursday we made a 'family mobile' with photos and drawn pictures for each person in the family. I was pleasantly surprised by how nicely the puppets turned out - they really looked like faces! We talked about what the words parents, siblings, brother and sister mean and which ones we are.

Had fun out on Deck 7 on Tuesday by making a little obstacle course with a big jump at the end to make things a little more exciting. We put the soft mats down on the deck to help cushion elbows and knees on the way down.

Noomi and Daniel were also very excited this week to get their first 'book' that they can practice reading with. About once every other week, they will be practicing and then taking home a short book with sight words (the, has, a, and, my, etc.) and rebuses (pictures for words) that they can practice. If you see Noomi or Daniel, ask them to read their books to you. This week's word was 'my'. I think they are excited to be 'reading' like the big kids.
