Weeks 29 and 30

The last two weeks have gone by super fast because of the long Easter holiday weekend in between. The Academy had Thursday, Friday and Monday off, which made for some nice three and four day weeks. We are now on the 'home stretch' with only seven weeks of school left in the year.

The three days before Easter were spent getting ready to celebrate the resurrection of Christ and also finishing up our 5 senses theme. As a final project for Senses, we made '5 senses prints'. I had been talking to some of the students one morning and then suggested making hand prints - I told them I thought this was a good idea, but what would we do about the other four senses? Well, they gave me the idea to make prints with our ears and nose as well and then use lipstick for lip prints. It took a little time to get everyone done and the paint on the paper and not everywhere else, but the final product looked very nice. We used markers to draw on eyes and heads - I was not really ready for 'eye prints.' :)

On Tuesday, the old adage 'the kids seem more interested in the box and wrapping than the present itself' was proven again. When we went up to Deck 8 to play, Lia and Ines were sorting through some new toy donations which meant that they needed to sort through the old bikes (so the kids could not use them right then) and they were using most of the port side of Deck 8. No problem because Lia was generous enough :) to share the big box that the some of the toys had come in. For the next 20 minutes, that box was the center of attention. I can now answer the question 'How many preschoolers fit in a giant box?' The answer is all 8 :)
